The Xenia retreat in North Hampshire hosts creatives from the visual arts and from the worlds of literature, music and performance. Situated in an idyllic, bucolic setting an hour from London, the landscape is gently undulating with long uninterrupted views, ancient trees and endless wildlife. We are part of a small hamlet with friendly and helpful locals to assist with any questions or problems that may arise.
Guests at Xenia will receive free accommodation. We offer a comprehensive initial food hamper and guests are expected to make their own meals in the kitchen provided. For travelling in the local area, we have e-bikes which are great for the one mile ride to our well stocked village shop and also for venturing further afield to explore the pretty local market towns and villages.
We encourage individuals to stay for between two weeks and two months, the length of stay will be assessed based on your particular needs. Although we will mostly host individual residents, we do also encourage small groups to stay for shorter periods – particularly when workshopping projects. We also encourage pairs or small groups that are cross disciplinary to stay at the same time as we wish to promote dialogue across disciplines.
There is no obligation or expectation to make or leave a work at Xenia, though if any guest would like to do so, it will be very much enjoyed and appreciated. We have a gallery space at the retreat which we’d be happy to offer should guests like to have a show of the work they’ve made during their stay.
Xenia provides a peaceful and contemplative environment that will cater to the creative needs of individuals and groups alike. We are open and willing to accommodate specific requirements as best we can.
